How to make Stuffed bitter gourd at home 


Apart from bitter gourd, the spices used in it are also easily available at home.

Bitter gourd is also very beneficial for people with diabetes because it controls blood sugar level.


The bitter gourd is first cleaned, then sliced   and marinated in salt, to soften it and reduce its slight bitterness, and then fill it with a shallow and tomato pungent mixture.


Very few people like bitter gourd because of its bitter taste, but if you try this stuffed bitter gourd recipe once, it will definitely change both your thinking and taste towards bitter gourd. You can make this recipe as a side dish and it is also very easy to make.

  • Bitter gourd 6
  • Onion 3 (finely chopped)
  • Chili powder 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder half teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder half teaspoon
  • Mango powder 1 teaspoon
  • Roasted fennel 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard oil 2 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste


How to make stuffed bitter gourd


Wash and dry the bitter gourd well and if desired, remove the skin above it as well. Doing so will reduce bitterness of bitter gourd. After this, preheat the oven at 180 ° C.


Now cut every bitter gourd from the middle and with the help of a spoon, remove the seeds and other things inside it and empty the bitter gourd completely from inside.


Now place the bitter gourd in a baking tray and bake for about 30 to 45 minutes or until the bitter gourd turns brown in color. If bitter gourd is slightly thicker than mango bitter gourd, it may take longer to bake.


Meanwhile take a pan on medium heat and heat oil in it. Fry the onions in hot oil till they turn golden brown in color. Put all the spices along with salt in this pan and fry for few seconds and remove from the heat.


When the spices have cooled down, fill them in equal quantity in all the gourds baked with a spoon or with your own hands. If there is extra stuffing or oil on the outside of the bitter gourd, wipe it too.


If you wish, fry the stuffed bitter gourd by adding 1 teaspoon of oil in the pan for 5 to 10 minutes or you can also bake it if you want. Your stuffed bitter gourd is ready. It can be eaten with dal-rice vegetable or as roti vegetable as a side dish.
