Chole, also known as Chana Masala, Kabuli Chana, etc., is very popular in India as well as all over the world. Chickpeas are rich in protein and fiber, so for those people who adopt vegetarianism abroad, 

it is a very good substitute for protein. In Indian markets, chickpeas of rice or chickpeas bhature are usually visible. Chole bhatures in India are seen at all fast food joints, in restaurants, and sometimes even in 5-star hotels.

  • Cook time: 26 to 30 minutes
  • Ingredients (for 5-6 people)
  • Chole / Chickpea Chana 1 ½ cup
  • Teabags 1
  • Salt 2 teaspoons
  • Bay leaf 2
  • Large cardamom 2
  • Tomatoes 1 medium
  • Onion 1 & 2 medium
  • Green Chili 2
  • Ginger 1 ½ inch
  • Ground bud Chili ¼ tsp
  • Grotto Kalong 6-7
  • Garam Masala 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder 2 tsp
  • Chola Masala 1 Tbsp
  • Mango powder ½ -1 teaspoon
  • Oil 2-4 tablespoons
  • Chopped coriander leaves 2 tbsp

Chana Masala Recipe

Clean and wash the Kabuli gram. Now soak it in about 3-5 cups of water overnight.
Boil the soaked Kabuli chana in a pressure cooker on a medium to low heat with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of tea, 2 big cardamoms and bay leaves. It takes 17-20 minutes for the gram to boil. In about 2-3 whistles, the gram melts well.


Peel and wash the onion and ginger.the stem Remove of green chili wash it and wash it. Finely chop them, grind them finely in a blender or grinder. Remove from mixer and keep aside.
Wash and cut tomatoes into 3 pieces. Now grind it fine in a blender or grinder.

Heat oil in a pan. Now add onion paste and fry till onion turns golden. It takes about 8 minutes. Now add garam masala, chickpeas masala, crushed black pepper, cottage cloves, coriander powder, mango powder and the remaining 1 tsp salt and fry for 1 minute. Now add tomato puree and fry till the spices leave the oil.

Now remove the tea bundle from the boiled chickpeas and add the chickpeas to the spices. Mix well If the chickpeas are very thick, then you add some more water and then cook the chickpeas. Allow the chickpeas to cook well with the spices for about 10 minutes.

Chole is now ready, garnish with green coriander and serve these delicious chickpeas.
You can serve these delicious chickpeas with rice or any roti, but the pair of chickpeas is mixed with Bhature. Chole Bhature is famous all over India ...

Suggestions:

I like the brown color in the chickpeas, for this I have used a teabag while boiling the chickpeas. It also gives a sweet fragrance to the chickpeas with color. I have also used large cardamom which makes it easy to digest chickpeas.

If you do not have all the spices, you can also make chickpeas by adding 2-3 tbsp of chickpeas masala in place of them.
