Easy To Make At Home Gourd Halwa Recipe

You do not have to wait for any occasion or festival to enjoy creamy gourd pudding (milk pudding) as it can be prepared at home in just minutes and it takes cooking skills to make it. 

There is not even much requirement. In this recipe, condensed milk is used to make the halwa creamy and lots of dry fruits and cardamom have been added for the best taste. 

If condensed milk is not available, do not worry, you can also use khoya (mawa) instead. To make pudding with khoya (mawa), read the tips and changes section below.

Gourd Halwa Recipe In English Material:

2½ cups grated gourd (milk)
1 cup (250 ml) flower fat milk
3 tablespoons condensed milk
2 tablespoons Ghee (Butter)
3 tablespoons sugar
10 cashew nuts, cut into pieces
10 almonds, cut into pieces
15 raisins
1/4 tsp cardamom powder

Gourd Halwa Recipe In English Method:

Step-1

Peel the gourd and grate it. Squeeze the grated gourd to remove excess water.

Step-2

Heat ghee in a pan on medium heat. Add grated gourd to it.

Step-3

Fry it for 3-4 minutes while stirring continuously with a spoon.

Step-4

Add flower fat milk and condensed milk; mix well and keep the mixture to boil.

Step-5

When the mixture starts boiling then reduce the heat and let it cook till it thickens. It will take about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to stop it from sticking (burning). Add sugar, chopped cashews, raisins, and chopped almonds.

Step-6

Stir continuously with a spoon until the mixture thickens and the moisture dries. It will take about 3-4 minutes.

Step-7

Turn off the gas. Add cardamom powder and mix well.

Delicious gourd pudding is ready to be served. Take it out in the bowl and serve.

Suggestions and Variations:

To grate gourd, first, peel it and then wash it in water. After that, grate it with all sides and remove the middle seed part.

The taste of gourd is slightly bitter. So squeeze out all the water from the grated gourd.
You can add 4 tablespoons of khoya (non-sugar mawa) instead of condensed milk and increase the quantity of sugar to 5 tablespoons.

Methods of serving: Gourd pudding can be served as a dessert with food or as dessert after dinner.
